AUTO-BELAY PRODUCT ALERT!;

MSA very recently became aware of two incidents where climbers using Redpoint Descenders (Auto-Belay System) experienced rapid rates of descent resulting in injuries. Their preliminary investigations indicates an issue with the one-way bearings provided by their supplier, which may prevent the brakes from engaging during descent. Due to the nature of this condition, the users were not able to detect the problem before the rapid descent occurred.

This Stop-Use Notice applies to the following descender units: All Redpoint Descenders (part numbers 10024873, 10027646, and 10027798, regardless of the date the unit was manufactured or last serviced). Includes Auto-Belay Descenders (part number 10021806) manufactured or last serviced on or after June 30, 2000.


Based on these findings, MSA is advising affected users to discontinue using the Redpoint and Auto-Belay Descenders indicated above. Please forward this notice to all appropriate personnel.

A new Warning label is available from your Cutting Edge Creations sales representative for Inflatables utilizing a Bungee Cord.


Please contact your CEC sales representative for a FREE label that can be adhered to the CEC vinyl inflatable with Vinyl Cement.

Product Safety Bulletin;

Due to our ever-growing concerns for safety in the inflatables industry as a whole, CEC is officially mandating and reminding the owners and operators of these inflatable devices that the inflatable product instructions provided by CEC, for any and all CEC inflatable products must be strictly adhered to. These written instructions include (but are not limited to) restricting the use by Unevenly-Matched Participants - that is, a significant height and/or weight disparity between the participants (i.e. and adult and a child utilizing the inflatable device, or an older teenager and a younger child utilizing the inflatable device.

Notice to all owners of Inflatable Slides including all
Cutting Edge Creations Inflatable Slides;

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission report in 2001 indicated that all slides with a landing height of 15 feet or higher is required to have (2) operators. The same report indicates that the maximum weight load on an inflatable (slide) is 200 lbs per person.
